Why did Sega stop making gaming consoles, and why was the Dreamcast a failure? For the time being, Dreamcast was actually a great system with great games. Why did it fail? And why didn't Sega continue to make gaming consoles? We would have a hell of a next-generation gaming console now, had Sega stayed with the home console market. ------------------------ PS3 controllerXbox 360 ControllerR4 Card 3DS

the dreamcast was ahead of its time. it was the first with online gaming and web browsing. sega failed when they couldn't keep up with the compition. they didn't get much support like the new kid on the block playstation. so they saw it in their best interest to just stick to making games. i still have my dreamcast and think it still a great system.

Ok Adams. It's about the Dreamcast, not the Genesis. Dumbass. Dreamcast launch date? 9/9/99.
Had mine reserved and picked up when the doors opened (Didn't have midnight launches 11 years ago). Was way ahead of it's time as far as features go, and was more powerful than the ps2 which was still over a year out. Too bad Sony had the big developers in their pockets and they didn't support the system.
Soul Calibur for this system is the best fighting game ever in my opinion, and was one of the first home console games to look better than it's arcade parent!
