I was wondering if you guys care about the price hike for XLive or not. I really don't care I use the service for media quite a bit myself. Not so much for the gaming side as of late. But I still think it provides more value than what they charge for it.

I agree it has a lot of content. I love the stability and everything on Live, but $10 more is a bit steep and they aren't adding anything to the service. I could understand if they had a big announcement then said they are adding $10. They should offer Silver for online gaming only, and Gold for everything else. I only use Live to play games online. I dont use Facebook, listen to music, watch movies, twitter, or anything else liek that on there. I have a computer for that.

It's not 10.00 more, if thats what you meant Bama. It is 10.00 a month if you pay monthly. Here's a copy of an article off Ign. Microsoft has announced that as of November 1, 2010, the price for Xbox Live Gold will go up in Canada, the US, United Kingdom and Mexico. The annual fee will go up by $10 in the United States, with one and three month subscriptions also going up in price. Starting November 1, a one month subscription in the US will cost $9.99 and a three month subscription will carry a price tag of $24.99. These are increases of $2 and $5 respectively. In the UK, a one month subscription will go up by 1 GBP to 5.99. Canadian and Mexican one month subscriptions will go up by $1 CAD and 100 Pesos each to $9.99 and 599 Pesos. All other subscription packages will have the same prices. In a posting, Microsoft spokesperson Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb explained the hike: "Since launching Xbox LIVE in 2002 we have continually added more content and entertainment experiences for our members, while keeping the price the same. We're confident that when the new pricing takes effect, an Xbox LIVE Gold membership will continue to offer the best value in the industry. However, we do want to thank our loyal members and give you the opportunity to lock in your current price with an additional discount, so now would be a good time to renew your subscription." Analyst Jesse Divinich of EEDAR believes this price increase will not have a major effect of Microsoft's momentum or subscription base, saying that, "EEDAR believes the fee increase will do little to impact the positive momentum of the Xbox 360," and that given the service improvements through the year, "it comes as no surprise that Microsoft would eventually increase the price of a Gold subscription by a moderate amount." As you can see it's only a 2.00 increase a month. Was 7.99 if you paid monthly now 10.00. If thats what you meant to say, well then disregard this.

Yea I always pay by the year, that is where my $10 more came from. It's not going to stop me from paying it but it would be nice if they offered something for people whom just want to play online and didn't want the other add-ons. It's like me paying for cable. I pay for 6532875 channels but only watch 5. They should put silver in their for demos and online play only and knock the price down to $39.99 a year. Then give the Gold option for the price they are going up to.

the good thing is if you renew now for a year, you only have to pay $49.99. that saves you the $10 increase for a whole another year away.

Question: Let's say for example, mine just auto renewed. If I renewed again in 2 months before the rate increase, will it change my renewal date to Nov. '11 or will it wait til august '11 and then renew another year that I paid for in '10? If not, screw that because I would lose out on 9 months.

it would change your renew date. also if you renew again (after the auto renew) b4 the price increase, you wont have to pay till 2012.

Yes I read that you can extend it with the cards that you buy for years if you don't buy the 1 year deal.
