Directv owners:
If you have a DVR with a network jack on the back, you can use your laptop to view whatever is recorded on your dvr, even when 2 things are being recorded and while there is something being played back. .. in great quality.. it is awesome.
Also.. If you have multiple DVRs, connect them to the network and activate them. You can now watch whatever is on one dvr thru the other dvr in another room..
They are stepping it up fo sho.. I love it.

I forgot to mention, the signal strenght on a clear day should be at 90% or higher, when there is something overhead (storms and such the signal will got down to like 70+ which is still good.. you need to have your dish repeaked i can get the Ka/Ku to pull 90 in bad weather

it depends where u are at, in nyc that is the common number as there is a number of additional factors. Where I live i rarely get that low but when i do it is normally because of severe weather and high winds.. but you still get to watch tv.

The professional way. I've had it up there almost 3 years and have yet to re-align, even thru many storms and still get a great signal. But in NY, i had to re-align it almost every 6-8 months.

I would think the best way is ebay or craigs list. There is no way ur gonna get one from them for anything less then list price. I'll ask around tho.

you could do that too. but would you still connect a directv box to it to get the full effect?

i would either connect the directv line in or the cable line. i have the basic cable still, cuz it was cheaper to get with internet that way; then have the internet alone.
