E3 09: Grading Microsoft’s E3 Press Conference Microsoft’s E3 Press Conference this year was an absolute success. From the moment the show started, we were being bombarded with major announcements, new trailers, and fantastic gameplay demos one after the other. We were treated with a live Modern Warfare 2 demo, Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 gameplay, the announcement and demo of Shadow Complex (Epic’s new XBLA title), trailers of both Crackdown 2 and Left 4 Dead 2, some Forza 3 footage, a Halo: ODST demo, and much more. Also, Microsoft yet again announced some great new community features (Twitter, Facebook) coming to Xbox Live that look like they’ll keep the Xbox 360 at the top of the list when it comes to online communities. And to top it all off, Microsoft’s long rumored motion sensing device was finally unveiled, and it actually looked pretty neat. Peter Molyneux revealed Project Milo, which is basically a virtual boy you interact with using the new motion sensing device. There’s really nothing else Microsoft could have done to make their press conference better. They stayed away from rambling on about numerous charts and graphs at us like in years past, and they made the announcements that people wanted to see. They stuck with showing nothing more than what their audience wanted resulting in an extremely compelling conference. The bar has been set extremely high this year, and it’s going to be one hell of a feat if either Nintendo or Sony can top Microsoft’s showing. The Verdict: A

I would have to give them a B+. to me they 1 big OH Shit moment... that was MGS. everything else was real solid, but nothing over the top. project natal looks very promising, cant wait to see more on this.
with sony i'm expecting them to throw out alot of numbers. they will spend alot of time on the psp go i think. talk about home, 1 or 2 new IP's. i think sony may come in a close second this E3.

Microsoft deserves an A because they are adding so many other features for the 360 making it just not a gaming platform but a home entertainment center. Sony should be very interesting to hear. So far the games coming out are quite legit. I just hope the stop talking about the PSP functionality with the PS3. Worthless to me.

the more i thought about it KO, the more i agree. MS is making the 360 the all around system for everything. changed my grade from a B+ to an A.

I didnt think Microsoft has too good of a show myself. There wasn't anything mind blowing. I think that the rumors that I heard had me expecting most of the stuff already. The FM radio feature along with facebook and twitter is worthless to me. I just wish they would make it more of a "Gaming Console" rather than a computer. I already have a laptop and a desktop, I don't need another one. They need to add more functionality to their games. Why not take that money they spent on adding Facebook and Twitter and make better servers to beable to handle more then 16 players at a time ?

Shit, I'd be HAPPY for 16! COD only has 12, and when there are 18, it gets BAAAAAAAD.

Twitter and facebook is useless to me, but the radio feature is pretty nice. I already have the 7.1 surround so having internet radio would be a nice addition. This way I won't have to buy XM radio after all.
