Of course this is just yet another rumor, as there is no official confirmation. But we caught word that Sony is set to not only reveal the PSP Go at E3, but another hardware redesign will be debuted as well.
We didn’t get any specifics, but we speculate that it could be one of a couple different options. First off, it very well could be as simple as a white or a silver PS3, to go with the white and silver Dualshock 3’s that have been made available. This makes sense, as most people would want their controllers to match their consoles.
The other option, and the one we are leaning toward is a slimmed down, model. Maybe with some updated specs. Nothing major of course as to not alienate current PS3 owners, but there is an off chance they could add something small like bluetooth 3.0 support. When we caught wind of this, the exact word “redesign” was used, which leaves me to believe that it is indeed a PS3 slim. Announcing a different color wouldn’t exactly warrant the term “redesign”.
Then again, since a console wasn’t specified either, it could be a redesigned PS2, or yet another PSP model (other than the Go) but that is highly unlikely. There is also an off chance that this “hardware redesign” was referring to a PS3 Motion controller, but I really don’t consider that to be “hardware”, as it’s more of an accessory.
Sony has been known to slim down their consoles, as the original PlayStation, PS2, and even the PSP all have seen slimmer models released after the initial model was released. Is the market ready for a PS3 slim? I know I am.
Stay tuned to PlayStation LifeStyle for all your E3 coverage needs. Something Colossal is coming soon…

Only thing they need to slim down on the PS3 is the damn price. They need to put one out with an optional Blu-Ray drive and drop the price to $199.

You do realize that every PS3 game is on blu-ray regardless of game size, right? And even if this were an option, the PS3 blu-ray drive accounts for less than $30 of the manufacturing costs...not going to save much of anything by cutting it. The PS3 will get its price cut when they start using smaller chips.

So if the Blu-Ray drive is so cheap then how come you cant find one at a decent price for the stand alone player ?
And I didnt know they were on Blu-Ray disks. But come to think of it, I think I remember some talk about it was going to be better because of more space than on the regular disk correct ? If so, has any game used the extra room for anything groundbreaking ?
What baffles my mind, is when GTA drops and they have this massive world that has all of this different stuff going on in the world that makes it evolve around you so to speak. Then you have a sports game that has paper cut out fans in the stands. I dont get it ? How can GTA make a game so massive but the Madden,NHL,etc.,etc. series have stuff that is so lackluster when it comes to small things like a fan in the stand. That is when the games will start going over the top in my opinion. Make it down to the detail.

I know devs tout that their shit is only possible because of Blu, but I don't really remember off hand what it is. Shows you how groundbreaking it is. I know MGS filled a 50GB BD.
