Once again I never said that one HD is better. I do know that our eyes can only see up to 30 fps so the i in the 1080i meaning interlaced really has no meaning since the lines are moving much faster than our eye's perceive. One reason our old TV tech really never evolved for such along time. I am pretty certain that if I put 3 TV's runnin 1 @720p 1 @1080i and 1 @1080p not any of us would for a shadow of a doubt could pick the correct resolution for each TV. Our eye's can't perceive the difference, salesman will tell you they can, but they are salesman that's there job. Even the new 12.1 pixel cameras, they are over kill we can't see the difference in those as well, I think I read at 8 mega pixels is the best we can tell for the human eye, Just throwing that out there. I like the fact that we can help make good purchasing decisions for each other, I am not a big fan of misinformation and I try to put a stop to it so no one gets burned.

I dont know many people with a 120" screen Wish I did ! I've been looking at getting one, but I can't decide if I want to sacrifice quality for size. A nice 58" plasma would do me well too ;D When you get it, holla atcha boy. Im comin to your place and hookin up the 360 ! Wait a minute.....never mind thats a long drive

Well when a lot of people go to these places (Best Buy, Wal-Mart, or where ever you shop) to buy a TV, I think they look at what is on display. And I can tell you from expierience that what you see on display doesn't mean shit. Most of the time they just hook the shit up and let it ride. If you want to get quality you need to adjust your set. Most of the time they are not just a plug and play. I think it throws a lot of people off when they see how pretty one picture is compared to another setting on display when in reality that picture thats looking worse could actually be better then they are showing you. One TV may have Blu~Ray running through it and the one beside it may just be upscaled DVD. You really have to pay attention and look around on the internet before buying a TV. I am happy with my Sharp Aquos. I absolutely love my screen. Wish it was a little bigger but it works.(37inch)

They had Blu-ray hooked up to a Sony XBR5 through composite cables. I hate big box stores for the exact reason you stated above.

Our eye's can't perceive the difference, salesman will tell you they can, but they are salesman that's there job. i had this same discussion with a friend a couple months ago. he was like you can see the difference right away. i was like you take it home and you would not be able to tell. i just had my 42" 720p replaced under warranty; and they upgraded me to a 1080p model. same tv but newer model. to be honest they look the same. to be honest the 720p had better blacks. both tv's have been calibrated with the disc's. That reminds me of the Best Buy near my place. They had Blu-ray hooked up to a Sony XBR5 through composite cables. I hate big box stores for the exact reason you stated above. did you know that sony has these big retail stores play a certain Sony disc for their TV's. the disc is made by Sony and enhanced to make the Sony TV's pop more then the competitor's set. these go from thier regular dvd's to bluray demo disc's. i worked at Sears for 13 years (glad i aint there anymore)as an asst. manager in the parts & service dept & we had these disc's we had to play from Sony. also Sony is very poor at backing their merchandise, if you are out of the 90 labor warranty period (which is almost everything they make, but you get 1 year on parts).
