I really cannot understand why they cannot just release ALL maps for the new Socom. If that were to happen, then I would def get a PS3. Sometimess I wnder what its like to sit in one of Zipper/take two's board meetings to see the ideas they are floating around to make Socom better experience. Except HD downloads can't touch the quality of an HD disc and won't for a very long time. That may not matter to few/some/most...I suppose it's up to the person. I'm not part of that "good enough" crowd and will choose disc over DL any day. It does suck that SOCOM only has 7 maps planned. But if they're 7 good maps, I won't complain too much. SOCOM 2 had a shitload, but I always found myself wanting to play the same select few. Quality, not quantity...although in a perfect world we could have both.

And to add to what reaper said about the DL's movies. I hate the wait time. I know its not real long but some of them can be. When I want to watch a movie I dont want to have to wait for it to download.

I dont know about that really?? i know when i DL HD trailers of movies on the 360 & PS3, those trailers look amazing. i have a 42" 1080p hd tv, i have seen movies on bluray & hd dvd & those trailers look just as good.

I have watched HD and Bluray. I have downloaded several HD movies from the 360. I honestly don't see a difference in the two.

It all depends on the hardware you're using I suppose. On a 32" TV, for example, you're not going to notice a difference. I'm not sure the same can be said for a projector and a 120" screen.
Most people also forget that there's more to HD movies than what they see on the screen.

Yes that is a false staement, An HD picture is HD doesn't matter the source as long as it is HD if it is a 720p 1080i or 1080p it's HD! When people make those staements it gets me frustrated becuz it confuses those that don't have a grasp of this digital and analog and HD change thats been coming for 5 years or more. I got in a verbal fight with my monitor's company Samsung when he said I have to use the HDMI to get an HD picture,I told him let me speak to your supervisor because you evidently don't know the difference. I had to explain I could get an HD pic with component cables which are analog not digital. I can get a digital HD pic with HDMI as well. Sorry for the rant,it totally pisses me off though. But HD is HD no matter what the source.

I think that rant was aimed at me, so I guess I'll respond. Nowhere did I claim that 720p or 1080i weren't HD resolutions. If you think all HD resolutions are created equally, however, well I'll leave you to your opinions. We're all entitled. As I mentioned before, there's more to a high definition movie experience than what you can see on the screen. Lossless audio is amazing if you have the proper gear to appreciate it. If 720p resolutions and lossy audio is sufficient for you (which it probably is for most people) then happy downloading.

Well Reaper, My Rant was based towards your opinion based statement. I was putting the facts out there so you could be better informed. And in your previous post's I don't see anywhere where you talked about the use of a sound system. "Except HD downloads can't touch the quality of an HD disc and won't for a very long time." This statement of yours is FALSE! An HD picture is HD doesn't matter the source as long as it is HD if it is a 720p 1080i or 1080p it's HD! This statement is TRUE! The same can be said for the format in which the Movie is being distributed. Be it Digital Downloads, Blu Ray or HD DVD. I would also like to thank you for ass- uming that I have a lousy sound sytem, I have had HD TV since 2003 and have had Digital 5.1 Surround sound since approx. 2000-2001. Actually my set up is so elaborate the Comcast Guy's just look at me when they get here and I do all the work.

And nowhere in my post did I say, that all HD Resoulution's were equal. Simply said, That if they are one of the 3 that I mentioned they were HD. Bottom line is if the picture resolution is in HD it's HD doesn't matter what form of distrubution is being used. That is all I have said.
Most people also forget that there's more to HD movies than what they see on the screen.
If you are referring to content on a Blu Ray disc's bonus material then 'yes' that is true, Though what you said in that statement doesn't say that. What you have said is theres more to the Movie and no theres not, there is the Movie and that's it. Because that's what's on the screen. The Movie. Though I can Honestly say I have never watched any extra content on a DVD movie, so for me that's not a selling point for me. That is an Opinion.
Well Reaper this concludes Zero's tech class for today, continue to post more error laden post's and expect some more classes.

Also, hate to tell you guys, but 720p is BETTER than 1080i. With progressive, ALL lines of resolution are on the screen a once. With interlaced, they exchange, so in the case of 1080i, you only have 540 lines of resolution on the screen at any given time.

Actually my set up is so elaborate the Comcast Guy's just look at me when they get here and I do all the work. First off, I'm not an idiot and I'm well aware of what HD is. YES, AS LONG AS A MOVIE IS ONE OF THE THREE RESOLUTIONS, IT'S CONSIDERED HD. You don't need to keep reiterating that point... My only point was that a 1080p movie, in theory, has a better picture than both 720p and 1080i. I could be wrong, but 1080p HD downloads don't exist. If HD downloads possess 1080p video, then I retract my statements. Again, nowhere did I "ass - ume" you had a lousy sound system. I have no idea what kind of setup you have. HD downloads, as opposed to Blu-ray, don't have lossless audio (that I'm aware of). DTS HD-MA, Dolby TrueHD, PCM Uncompressed are all fairly new audio formats. This is all I was referring to when I said "Most people forget that there's more to HD movies than what they see on the screen." I couldn't give two shits about bonus material. Again, I apologize for not being more clear. I just meant that half of a movie is also what you HEAR, not just see (to me anyway). I'm not sure what error laden posts you are referring to. I obviously didn't do a very good job of explaining what I meant...so I apologize. I thank you for your tech class, but I insist, you can save your keystrokes if you're just doing it for my benefit. I'm quite educated on the subject.

I honestly can't tell the difference between 1080i and 720p. They're pretty close.

I dont know many people with a 120" screen Wish I did ! I've been looking at getting one, but I can't decide if I want to sacrifice quality for size. A nice 58" plasma would do me well too ;D
